My sermon on the promise of restoration yesterday spoke of the violation of God’s laws in part. What happens when people do not recognize sin as sin as they are unfamiliar with his laws? Well we will never know his laws unless we read the Bible and have them inscribed on our hearts.
Paul referred to a number of sins in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 this way; "For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power".
That’s a mouthful but necessary for us to understand.God does not want us to tolerate sin, and Paul refers to sin as "all kinds of evil," he said to "flee these things"—meaning all of them. Take it a day at a time and overcome it. It can be done. The days turn into weeks, the weeks into months, and then we begin to realise that the addictions, the ingrained sin, and the habits can be successfully overcome. Just do it! You deserve it! |
